Just two wins away from clinching the top spot in the JCC of Bayonne Indoor Soccer Jr. Division “Championship Tournament,” the (4-2) Dragons had to first get past the (2-5) Knights. Playing without their scoring machine, Thomas Arias, the Dragons’ offense struggled to generate points. Dipping into their defensive ranks, the Dragons sent David Matos, Amy Gabrael, Anthony Baez, and Joyce Gabrael on a scoring quest but the Knights’ defense stood the test. Going on the attack, the Knights started piling up goals as Chase Cohen (3), Aaliyana Cifuentes (2), Christian Benson (1), and Michael Cordero (1) joined forces to make it 7-0, Knights. As the Knights steamed out to a big lead, their defense also stepped up their game as Ryan Divan and Anthony Fraser stone walled the Dragon’s charge. Playing valiantly, Brenden McCall, Matos, Baez, and the Gabrael sisters, Amy and Joyce, gave their all to right the ship for the Dragons but in the end the Knights ruled the day with a 7-0 victory.
