Repairs continue on Hoboken water main; precautionary boil water advisory in small area

HOBOKEN – Road restoration at the site of a water main break – on First Street between Willow Avenue and Clinton Street – begins today, Tuesday March 15 as part of repairs.

In a statement on Tuesday, SUEZ (formerly United Water) said, “customers on First Street in the affected area have water service provided via bypass piping…[A] precautionary boil water advisory remains in effect for customers on First Street between Clinton and Willow.”

A parked car that plummeted into a sinkhole at the scene of the rupture has since been removed.

No other areas of the city are under a boil water advisory.

The city recommends that residents and businesses in the affected area boil their water for at least one minute before drinking, cooking, or baking, making ice cubes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula or food, mixing juices or drinks, feeding pets, and all other consumption. – Steven Rodas
