Sonics win as Kowal shines

Still in search of that elusive first victory, the (0-3) Sonics turned their sights on downing the (2-1) Comets in a JCC of Bayonne Indoor Soccer Sr. Division bout. After a slow start, the Sonics’ offense finally caught fire as Harsh Easwar Thomas Arias torched the net off assists by Jacob Kowal. Up 2-0, the Sonics’ defense dug in with Kasper Hooks and Jacob Kowal flying to the ball. Frustrated by the Sonics’ ballhawking, the Comets began blasting long distance shots but the Sonics held firm. Finally, the Comets hit their mark as Dylan Subacz battled the ball to Kyle O’Hara who rocked the net to make it 2-1, Sonics. Keeping the pressure up, the Comets’ Aaliyana Cifuentes and Alejandro Cifuentes took the offensive reins by putting six shots on net but to no avail. Sensing their first victory, the Sonics held on with great ball control to capture a hard fought 2-1 victory.
