UNION CITY – The City of Union City planned to hold two events in commemoration of Dominican Republic’s Independence Day on Thursday, Feb. 25.
The first is a flag-raising Ceremony at 12 p.m. at International Park located on the corner of Palisade Avenue and 38th Street. The ceremony will include invited guest speakers and the raising of the Dominican flag. Members of several local Dominican organizations are expected to attend.
The second event is a cultural program at 7 p.m. at Jose Marti Freshman Academy, 1800 Summit Ave. The event will include invited guest speakers, live music and other entertainment, and typical Dominican food. Members of several local Dominican organizations are expected to attend the ceremony.
Admission is free to both events. Everyone in the community is invited to attend.
