EVANGELISTA, NICHOLAS JR.

A mass of Christian Burial was offered Jan. 29 at Holy Rosary Church for Nicholas Evangelista, Jr., 77, of Jersey City. He passed away peacefully on Jan. 23 in Manalapan surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of downtown Jersey City, he served his country as a United States Marine and Army National Guardsman from 1955 through 1963. He was the owner of Joe’s Market and Deli on Summit Avenue for 15 years, and later served the residents of Jersey City as a senior inspector for the Jersey City Incinerator Authority for 25 years retiring in 2009.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed listening to the “Oldies” and Italian music, along with the simple pleasures of life. He was the husband of the late Antoinette “Bunny” Evangelista; father of Nicholas Evangelista and his partner Eddy Sousa, Peter (JCPD) and Jackie Evangelista, Mark (JCPD) and Dina Evangelista, Toni Ann and Gerard Costanza; grandfather of Nicole, Danielle, Peter Vincent, Mark and Dominick Evangelista, Gabrielle, Jessica and Samantha Costanza. Services arranged by the Introcaso-Angelo Funeral Home, Jersey City.
