Alleged drunk driver involved in two-car accident in Hoboken

HOBOKEN – A 29-year-old Hoboken resident was arrested Tuesday after allegedly driving while intoxicated in a school zone and colliding with another vehicle a press release from the Hoboken Police Department said.
Police officers Ricky Truppner and John Hermann arrived at Second and Washington Streets on a report of a car accident around 12:52 a.m. on Tuesday and found “two vehicles with heavy damage” at the scene, the press release said.
Police officials said they smelled alcohol on one driver’s breath.
“An on-scene field sobriety test was conducted which [Jesse Giunta] failed,” the press release says, noting later that he was found to be above the legal limit.
Giunta, 29, was transported to headquarters and later released to a responsible party. He was given summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and driving while intoxicated in a school zone.
