To the Editor:
For 15 years, I had the privilege to serve the parishioners of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, and the people of Bayonne as pastor. It was a wonderful experience for all of us, English, Italian and Spanish speaking. It was an experience of our faith in the Lord, and an opportunity for all of us to grow as a close-knit family. The closing of the church has changed all that, and has meant that I am now the pastor of Saint James the Apostle Church, Springfield.
It is with a great deal of pride and humility that I want to express my gratitude for the parishioners of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and the citizens of Bayonne for their friendship, prayers, support, and generosity shown to me these many years, and for the gifts given to me. This was certainly more evident as we came closer to the final Mass in the church. You will always have a special place in my heart, as you have all had a part to play in the work of the Lord and my own growth in faith. May you continue to grow in the faith of the Lord as we all begin new challenges in our lives. God bless you all!
