Pennsylvania fugitive arrested near Holland Tunnel

JERSEY CITY – Mitchell Neil Thompson, 24, a fugitive from Reading, Pa., was apprehended outside the Holland Tunnel after Port Authority police pulled him over for erratic driving.
PA Police Officer Christopher Paskovich stopped a U-Haul rental van at the mouth of the north tube at about 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Thompson, while driving westbound from Manhattan, was allegedly manipulating the screen of his cellular phone and not looking at the road. His van crossed over into the near lane several times causing a bus to slow to avoid the suspect as the bus sounded his horn.
The PAPD officer pulled the suspect over at 14th Street and Manila Avenue in Jersey City. The suspect handed the PA officer a Pennsylvania driver’s license. A computer check revealed the suspect had a suspended and expired license plus an active warrant for alleged burglary, and terroristic threats from Pennsylvania.
Port Authority police verified his warrant. The suspect will be charged as a fugitive from justice and will await extradition at the Hudson County jail after arrest processing.
