of Point Pleasant, NJ passed away at the Sunnyside Manor in Wall on December 27, 2015. Bertha was born and raised in Bayonne to Michael and Sophie Palka on March 13, 1923. During her career, Bertha worked in the clerical department for Maidenform in Bayonne until her retirement. She married her husband, the late Stanley Matusiewicz, in 1942 and they raised their family in Bayonne. Soon after her retirement, Bertha relocated to Point Pleasant, where she currently resided. Bertha was a parishioner of St. Peter’s RC Church in Point Pleasant Beach, and was a member of their Golden Years Senior Group for many years. She was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Matusiewicz in 1982. She is survived by her son, Gerald Matusiewicz of Poughkeepsie, NY; by her daughters, Susan Bonsper of Point Pleasant, NJ and Elaine Sullivan of Florham Park, NJ. Bertha is also survived by her sisters, Helen Wines of Point Pleasant, NJ and Jean Cleary of South River, NJ; by her grandchildren, Francis Sullivan, Anne Matusiewicz, Andrew Matusiewicz, Jackie Bonsper and Alex Bonsper; and by her great-granddaughters, Lauren and Emma Sullivan.
