A funeral service took place Dec. 17 at St. Paul of the Cross Church, Jersey City, for Nicholas Gabriel Mazzucco, 81, of Jersey City. He passed away Dec. 12. He was a lifelong resident of Jersey City, but was well known and respected throughout our community as an educator for over 40 years in the Union City school system. Nick began his career as a high school history teacher and then guidance counselor at Emerson High School in Union City. Later he became principal of Washington Elementary School and then served as principal of Union Hill High School. He last served with the Union City Board of Education. He was the husband of Angela (Cicero) and father of daughters, Judy Garbo and husband Matthew, and Sue Murphy and husband Anthony. He was the brother of Rose Natoli. Also surviving are his four grandchildren Sophia, Lily, Ethan and Amelia, and nieces JoAnn, Serena and Angela. Services arranged by the Leber Funeral Home, Union City.
