Bayonne Bridge to close this weekend; stay open for holidays

BAYONNE – The Bayonne Bridge will close overnight Friday into Saturday morning, and then overnight Saturday into Sunday morning, to accommodate ongoing construction work on the bridge project, according to the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.
But the bridge will be open for the holidays, from 5 a.m. Dec. 23 until 9 a.m. Jan. 4.
This weekend, the bridge will be closed from 11:59 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18 until 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, and then from 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 until 8 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 20.
On Monday, Dec. 21 and Tuesday, Dec. 22, the bridge will follow its regular weekday schedule of closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and overnight closures from 8:30 a.m. to 5 a.m.
When the bridge reopens at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, it will remain open for the Christmas and New Year’s holiday period and will not close again until 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4.
