PILLSBURY, CHRISTINE

A memorial service was held Dec. 12 for Christine Pillsbury, 70, of Weehawken. She passed away after a long battle with cancer, with her family by her side, on Dec. 4 at Palisades Medical Center, North Bergen. Christine was the wife of Rowland Pillsbury, who retired as a master chief from the US Navy. She is also survived by her three children, BJ Van Bennekum and his wife Catherine; Denise Lidsky and her husband Marc, and Jason Van Bennekum and his wife Melissa. Some of her fondest memories in life came from the times she spent with her six grandchildren Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Blaine, Claire, Zachary and Brady. Christine is also survived by her sister Geraldine Eggert and her husband Edward, and Alice Aiello and her husband retired Chief Robert Aiello. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Christine was born in Hoboken and was the daughter of the late Christian and Helen Sprong of Hoboken. She went to Brandt Elementary and Demarest High School. She was in the first class to graduate from Hoboken High School. Christine was a homemaker and loved to cook homemade bread and pasta during the many years she lived in New Hampshire prior to moving back to New Jersey with her husband Rowland. Services arranged by the Vainieri Funeral Home, North Bergen.
