Longtime family-owned business launches ‘mobile’ shop

Onlookers became increasingly curious in front of the Hoboken store Interior Motif, as a large black veil was draped over a massive object.
The family-owned business, which has become a staple in the community, has serviced New Jersey and the five boroughs of New York City since 1996. Interior Motif specializes in custom blinds, shades, drapes, and custom closets.
They held a special ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 3, the week following Small Business Saturday.
“I’m all about supporting local businesses,” said Stephan Elbaz at the ceremony. “For me, the town taught me that it’s about giving back, whether through charitable organizations or really, whatever we can do.”
Toward the end of the night, Elbaz cut a ribbon to launch the business’ very first mobile shop.
He also removed the veil, showing that the object was a mobile store on wheels.
“We’ll now be mobile, and able to interact with clients in a new way,” added Elbaz, noting that launching the shop on wheels took about eight months. “What’s important to us is that we can have this regionally and nationally.”
The idea, he said, is to park the shop in front of high rises and condominiums allowing for clients to explore what Interior Motif has to offer without leaving the comfort of their vicinities.
The eco-friendly mobile shops are equipped with L.E.D lights, heating, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi. Interior Motif has been featured on HGTV’s “Rev Run’s Renovation” and DIY’s “Kitchen Cousins.” They’ve also worked with big names in the sport’s realm such as legendary New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera, D’Brickashaw Ferguson of the New York Jets and former NBA coach Avery Johnson.
They have also had a hand in a number of other projects including “The Pearl,” “The Avenue at Port Imperial,” “Trump Towers Jersey City,” and they work with New Jersey’s Port Authority and the city of Hoboken.
“We made sure the mobile [store] is ultra quiet so we don’t disturb any neighborhoods or residents,” said Elbaz.
Interior Motif is located at 629 Washington St.
