Miceli, Kowal Unstoppable As Eagles Win

In what should have been a showcase for the (2-3) Bengals’ speedsters vs. the (5-0) Eagles’ play-makers, the JCC of Bayonne week 5 Indoor Flag Football Sr. Division opening bout turned out to be the Titanic vs. the iceberg. Beginning with a defensive surge, the Bengals took a 2-0 lead as their “D” caught the Eagles’ ballcarrier in the endzone for a safety. The Bengals then marched down court only to have a penalty negate a Kyle Arano TD run. After that moment, the romp was on as the Eagles’ Drew Radil picked off a Bengals’ pass to set the wheels in motion. Driving quickly, the Eagles made it 6-2 on twisting TD grab by Matt Miceli. After a promising 40 yard drive keyed by the running of Andres Giron and Alejandro Cifuentes, the Bengals once again came up empty as the Taylor brothers, Damon and Da’mien, fueled the Eagles’ goal line stand. Staying with a hot hand, the Eagles’ Matt Miceli notched his 2nd TD catch making it 12-2, Eagles. Closing out the first half, the Eagles added TD snares by Jacob Kowal and Damon Taylor with Kowal also tacking on 4 extra points as the Eagles’ lead ballooned to 28-2. Inspite of some great efforts, the Bengals continued to misfire on offense with Ian Giron and Kasper Hooks watching sure TD tosses drift just out of reach. For the Eagles, the riches kept mounting as Miceli (1 TD) and Kowal (1 TD, 2 expts) added to the Eagles 2nd half offensive fireworks while Nicholas DePinto and Drew Radil led the charge as the Eagles’ defense tallied a safety to secure the Eagles 44-2 victory.
