Kowal, Radil, Miceli Team Up To Fuel Eagles

After getting all they could handle from the Chargers, the now (7-0) Eagles faced another feisty (2-6) squad as they took on the Bengals to wrap up week 6 in the JCC of Bayonne Indoor Flag Football Sr. Division. With a reputation for rock solid defense, the Eagles went up 2-0 on the games very first play by recording their 4th safety of the season. Taking advantage of their lockdown “D”, the Eagles’ offense cashed in with TD passes to Damon Taylor and Jacob Kowal. Trailing 14-0, the Bengals got on the board as QB Kasper Hooks zipped a short flare pass to Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes who raced to paydirt making it 14-6. Unfortunately for the Bengals, their two point try back fired as the Eagles’ Jacob Kowal pilfered the Bengals’ attempt and returned the “pick” for two points and a 16-6 Eagles’ lead. Rolling like a well-oiled machine, the Eagles added to their lead as a Kowal TD grab and a two point snare by Nicholas DePinto put the Eagles up 24-6. Down by 18, the Bengals played long-ball as Kyle Arano hauled in a long TD toss before adding a two point catch to cut the Eagles’ advantage to 24-14. With rifle armed Matt Miceli holding the reins at QB, the Eagles made it 32-14 as Miceli connected with Drew Radil for a TD and a two point play. Leading the league with 131 points, the Bengals’ Andres Giron finally shook free for a full court TD grab to narrow the Eagles’ margin to 12 points at 32-20. Needing points in a hurry, the Bengals’ offense took another major hit as the Eagles’ FS Jacob Kowal reeled in his 2nd interception of the bout to end another Bengals’ drive. Looking to right the ship, the Bengals worked up court once again with Ian Giron getting into the offensive mix. After driving deep into Eagles’ territory, the Bengals stalled again as Da’mien Taylor broke up a TD attempt. One play later, the Eagles struck paydirt with another Miceli to Radil TD toss before wrapping up a 38-20 victory as Jacob Kowal notched his third “pick” with no time remaining.
