Ballance Brothers Spark Chargers

Looking to redeem themselves after a disappointing 44-2 defeat at the hands of the Eagles, the now (2-4) Bengals hoped to rebound as they took on the (1-5) Chargers to close out week 5 of the JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Flag Football Sr. Division schedule. Frozen at 0-0, the Chargers’ Ryan Ballance heated things up with a full court interception return for a “pick six” and a 6-0 Chargers’ lead. Three plays later, the Bengals responded as Andres Giron galloped wire to wire for a TD while Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes made it 8-6 Bengals on a 2 point sweep. Looking rock solid at the QB position, the Chargers’ Chris Ballance engineered two flawless drives capped off by a TD toss to Ryan Ballance, and a 6 yard TD run by Ryan and 4 expt. points via the air to Ryan as the Ballance brothers took charge. Trailing 24-8, the Bengals once again turned to Andres Giron who hauled in a TD grab and two point toss from QB Kyle Arano to make it 24-16, Chargers. On a third and goal, the Chargers’ Matt Piscopi put his mark on the bout with a leaping TD catch and after yet another Ryan Ballance two point catch, the Chargers led 32-16. As the Chargers “D” showed no signs of countering the speed of the Bengals, the Bengals wisely handed off to Andres Giron who quickly raced 30 yards to paydirt to cut the Chargers’ advantage to 32-22. Playing in his best game of the season, the Chargers’ QB Chris Ballance continued to pepper the ball to his sure handed receivers as Ryan Ballance reeled in a 20 yard TD while Harsh Easwar pulled in a TD grab. Down 40-22, the Bengals kept clawing away as Andres Giron made it a 40-30 game with a TD dash and a two point catch. Replying quickly, Harsh Easwar pulled in a TD toss followed by another two point dart to Ryan Ballance. With time running out, the Bengals pulled to 48-38 as Arano hit Cifuentes for a 10 yard TD and Ian Giron for two points. Giving it their all down the stretch, the Bengals’ Kasper Hooks almost came up with a “pick” but in the end another TD pass and two point toss from Chris Ballance to Ryan Ballance sealed the Chargers’ 56-38 win.
