Funeral services took place Sept. 10 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jersey City for Inez Hawkins, 75, of Jersey City. She passed away peacefully on Sept. 7. Inez was born in Mineville, N.Y. and lived in Sweden before returning to New York City where she met her husband Frederick. They moved to Jersey City in 1972 where they raised three children. Inez worked 10 years helping homeless veterans for the Department of Veterans Affairs in New York City. She was longtime parishioner of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jersey City, and a founding member of the Five Corners Sharing Place.
Inez was the wife of 47 years to the late Frederick Hawkins; mother of Tina Shultz and husband William, Beth Chisolm and Frederick Hawkins; grandmother of Julie and James Buncie, John and Rachel Chisolm. Also survived by many friends from St. Paul’s. Services arranged by the Riotto Funeral Home, Jersey City.
