Funeral services were held Sept. 5 for Rosa Lidia Silva Gonzalez, 98. She passed away Sept. 2 in her home in Coopersburg, Pa. Born in Madruga, Cuba, Rosa immigrated to North Bergen in 1963 with her late husband of 60 years, Jose I. Gonzalez, and her two sons, Ricardo Jose and Rene’ Miguel, both graduates of North Bergen High School. She is also survived by her daughters-in-law, Leslie and Susan, and her granddaughters, Elisa, Sara, Mariana, Christina, and Angela Faith. “Abuela” (“Grandma”) Lidia was a teacher; a school principal; an office manager for her late brothers, Drs. Carlos and Evaristo Silva; a poet; a wife; but perhaps most of all, an exemplary mother, grandmother, and matriarch. Services arranged by the Vainieri Funeral Home, North Bergen.
