Three shot in Mercer Park in Bayonne on Father’s Day

BAYONNE – For the second time in two months, a shooting has injured people in a Bayonne park.
This time, three people were shot at about 9 p.m. on June 21 at a Father’s Day celebration in Mercer Park, at the Bayonne-Jersey City border, multiple news outlets reported.
On April 28, an 18-year-old man was shot at DiDomencio-16th Street Park. The alleged shooter in that incident was captured in Orlando, Fla., days later.
On Sunday, about 200 people were enjoying a cookout at Mercer Park when shots rang out, several witnesses said. Some attendees at first thought the shots were the sounds of fireworks going off.
One witness described a flurry of people running, hopping fences, and ducking for cover.
Police have not released the names or ages of the shooting victims. Their injuries are non-life threatening, according to media reports.
WABC-TV reported that two 15-year-olds were among the injured.
No arrests have been announced. Police are investigating.
