Marist holds 21st annual Blue and Gold Golf Classic

On June 18 at the Forest Hill Field Club in Bloomfield, Marist High School of Bayonne will hold its 21st Annual Blue and Gold Golf Classic and will honor Dr. August Pellegrini with the St. Marcellin Service Award, given annually to a graduate of the school who has dedicated themselves to helping both the school and their community.
Pellegrini, a 1978 graduate of Marist, established his practice in his hometown of Bayonne. He is currently the assistant dean and clinical assistant professor at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, Department of Restorative Dentistry. In 2005, Pellegrini was elected to be the President of the New Jersey Dental Association, the highest position a dentist can hold in organized dentistry in the state, and the highlight of his career.
Pellegrini serves as a volunteer dental provider with the NJ Foundation for Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities and Donated Dental Services and sits on the Board of Trustees of Matheny Hospital and Educational Center, a specialized hospital and school for severely disabled people. He is also a founding member and director of Bayonne Community Bank.
The day of golf begins with the driving range opening at 10:30 a.m., a lunch buffet at noon, followed by the shotgun start and ending with a cocktail reception and awards dinner.
The event usually has a turnout of approximately 100 golfers and dinner attendees showing their support for both the honoree and the school, as the event is a fundraiser to help provide Marist families with financial relief.
