Nowak delivers for Devils

After falling to (1-1), the Devils set their sights on getting back on track as they faced the (0-2) Islanders in a JCC of Bayonne Sr. Division Floor Hockey bout. The fired up Devils quickly went to work righting the ship as team captain Jake Nowak set the course with two goals while Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes (2 goals, 1 assist), Elliott Santana (1 assist), Ryan Giocoli (1 assist), and Megan Feeley (1 assist), jumped on board as the Devils built a 4-0 lead. Leading 4-1, the Devils never slowed down as Alejandro Cifuentes fought a pass to Megan Feeley who made it 5-1 with her third goal of the season. Needing a spark, the Islanders bolstered their defensive ranks with Natallyah Teixeira, Logan Mazziota, and Chloe Gregory standing guard to set up John Bautista’s breakaway scoring blast to make it 5-2, Devils. With the Islanders still nipping at their heels, the Devils kicked their offense into high gear as Jake Nowak railed in three goals in one five minute shift as the Devils rambled out to an 8-2 advantage. With time fading, the Islanders rallied for one last burst as team captain Malachi Smith assisted Jake Peregrin on a scoring dart as time ran out. Besides the ironwilled effort of the Devils’ Jake Nowak, a special mention must be given to his teammates J. P. Egan and Matt Doyle whose defensive efforts rekindled the Devils winning ways.
