Three Cuban Independence events in Union City

UNION CITY – Mayor Brian Stack and the Board of Commissioners announced that the city of Union City would hold three events in commemoration of Cuba’s Independence Day:
Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 12:00 p.m.
Flag-raising Ceremony at International Park, Palisade Avenue and 38th St. The ceremony will include invited guest speakers and the raising of the Cuban flag. Members of several local Cuban organizations are expected to attend the ceremony.
Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.
“Conversation about Cuban Film” and world premiere screening of the film “Mondongo Cubano” at the William V. Musto Cultural Center, 420 – 15th St.
Friday, May 23, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.
Cultural Program at Jose Marti Freshman Academy, 1800 Summit Avenue. The event will include invited guest speakers, live music and other entertainment, and typical Cuban food. Members of several local Cuban organizations are expected to attend the ceremony.
Admission is free to all events. Everyone in the community is invited to attend. –Art Schwartz
