Dear Editor:
Why is there no outcry over Ex-Jersey City Mayor Jeremiah Healy’s politically appointed county position, because your voice has a better chance of being heard from the residents of Holy Name Cemetery or a solid brick wall?
Maybe you can complain to Mayor Fulop who is using the same questionable employment tactics. Surely County Executive Tom Degise, Healy’s longtime friend and political ally will listen to your objection but didn’t he hire him? Maybe there’s a possibility of the other mayors or some members of the state assembly, senators, or freeholders in Hudson County will hear your protest but aren’t they sailing together on the same luxurious taxpayer cruise ship?
Most government officials elected or appointed will not “Rock the Boat”! Somewhere, someone they know, including themselves, has benefited through wasteful political patronage. All these payback and kickback employment abuses have no restrictions or ethics in their sick, warped, self serving world. So this corrupt system remains protected, while the people suffer under its financial burdens.
Absolute power corrupts! We are living in a one party system that has about enough honor, respect, morals and decency as an inmate on Devil’s Island. There are no checks and balances, and the voices of people are meaningless. There’s no remorse, no recourse, or punishment for what they do! The fox is watching the chickens! Healy has a lot of friends. They owe him!
