A funeral mass was offered Jan. 16 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for Palma Mondi, 92, a lifelong Jersey City resident. She passed away peacefully on Jan.12. She was a talented seamstress most of her life and after retiring was healthy enough to keep doing what she loved, driving into her 80’s and getting around on her own, taking trips to Atlantic City casinos, and above all, she spending weekends with her three grandsons. She would tell stories of growing up in J.C. during the Depression and of her Sicilian heritage. She was the wife for over 50 years of the late Lorenzo Mondi; mother of Carolyn Mondi, Larry Mondi and wife Ann Wheaton; grandmother of Paul, James and John Mondi; sister of the late Connie Cassese and Anthony Ballato. Palma also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and her friend Rose Scalzo to cherish her memory. Services arranged by the Riotto Funeral Home, Jersey City.
