A funeral was held Aug. 21 at the Zion Baptist Church, Jersey City, for Eva Meredith Mainor, 85. She passed away Aug. 15. Eva was born in Guyton, Ga. to Walter and Florrie Payton Mainor. Eva was raised in Jersey City, and attended Jersey City Public Schools. After graduation she served the United States honorably as Sergeant in the Womens Army Corp for four years in the Korean War. Eva graduated from Christ Hospital Nursing School in Jersey City and worked as a Registered Nurse for 37 years. Eva was predeceased by her parents Walter and Florrie Mainor, brothers Walter Lee Jr., Henry and Monroe and sisters Helen and Almeda. Surviving to cherish Eva’s precious memory are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services arranged by the Jackson Funeral Residence, Jersey City.
