Driver in accident that killed baby girl is held on $250,000 bail

HUDSON COUNTY — Idowu Daramola, the driver of a bus that rammed into a pole on Boulevard East, killing a baby girl on Tuesday, appeared on Thursday in state court in Jersey City on charges of death by auto, reckless driving, and using a cellphone when operating a vehicle. His bail was set at $250,000, according to the Associated Press.
Daramola did not enter a plea because he hadn’t been able to retain an attorney, he said.
The grieving parents of the baby girl, Angelie Paredes, 8 months old, have scheduled a memorial service for this Sunday. See links below to earlier stories.
Early Thursday morning, the baby’s father, Jairo, Tweeted: “We are all standing together and relying on each other to get through this. The pain is unbearable, the nightmares are unstoppable.”
The only Tweet before that was the day before the baby’s death: “Photo: First time on a swing on 7/29/2013 (at James L Braddock North Hudson County Park).”
