The 10-member team comprising the 2012 Bayonne Recreation Spikers Special Olympics Volleyball Team took home a silver medal at the recently-held 2012 S.O.N.J. Chapter Fall Sports Festival. The event was contested at the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, N.J.
The 2012 Spikers’ roster was comprised of Nicole Bawiec, Siearra Battle, Ronald Benitez, Samantha Ciemiecki, Thomas Gutierrez, Francheska Huentelaf, Ian Hudacko, Violet Malcolm, Scott Sigelkow, and Jovanni Torres.
During the six-week league play, the Spikers held a 14-4 record and took that into the Chapter finals, where they won a silver medal as the seeded team in Division 1.
The Spikers were coached by John Valdora, Denise Bawiec, and Theresa Diaz.
