Meadowlands Hospital alternate sites set up in Secaucus, West New York, due to Hurricane Sandy; saved lives last year

HUDSON COUNTY — West New York now has a triage center set up by MHMC at 60th and Bergenline Avenue for people who are stuck and cannot get to a hospital.
There is also a site set up in Secaucus at Huber Street School.
Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center (MHMC) Acting CEO Lynn McVey announced on Monday that the hospital repeated their efforts from Hurricane Irene by opening up two alternate care sites. At 7 am on Monday, MHMC opened one alternate care site at Huber School in Secaucus, seeing patients who cannot get to the hospital due to flooding.
According to McVey, last year with Hurricane Irene, two critical patient lives were saved. One was a stroke patient, 2nd patient was from a heart attack. Plus, a mommy delivered a beautiful baby girl 30 minutes after arriving. Because of last year, the Mayor of Secaucus asked Meadowlands Hospital to repeat that effort again for Hurricane Sandy.
“This year, the Mayor of West New York asked MHMC to help his town and we set up a second alternate care site at Bergenline Avenue and 60thStreet,”, said McVey. “The sites in Secaucus and West New York will enable residents to receive quality healthcare, even during a dangerous hurricane.”
