City to close certan streets, make other preparations for Mumford & Sons concert; will conclude with fireworks

HOBOKEN AND BEYOND — The city of Hoboken released this bulletin on Tuesday afternoon:

On Wednesday, August 1, 2012, Mumford & Sons will hold a sold-out concert at Pier A Park in Hoboken to kick off their summer tour.
Setup of the site began on Monday morning with the delivery of the stage at the end of Pier A with a barge and crane. Sections of Pier A will be closed as site preparations continue. Starting on Wednesday, sections of Sinatra Drive between Newark Street and 4th Street will be closed to vehicular traffic. Warrington Plaza adjacent to Hoboken Terminal will also be closed by NJ Transit.
Visitors are strongly encouraged to take public transit. Additional PATH trains will operate between 9pm and 11pm on Wednesday. NJ Transit will also be providing additional service. Municipal parking garages are expected to reach capacity.
Doors will open at 5 pm with two bands opening prior to Mumford & Sons. The event will take place rain or shine. The concert will conclude at 10 pm with approximately 3 minutes of fireworks from a barge on the river.
Officers from the Hoboken Police Department and more than 100 event security personnel will be on hand. The Port Authority, NJ Transit, Hudson County, and Jersey City police departments are also providing logistical and communications support.
In addition to donating $30,000 to the City’s Cultural Affairs Fund, the band and promoters are paying for all expenses including security, sanitation, and all associated costs incurred by the City.
