Funeral services have been held for Gertrude Baisden, 77. She died Oct. 17 under hospice care at home in Brown Summit, N.C. Born in Sumter, S.C., the daughter of the late Addie (Carter) and John Lowery, she lived 59 years in Jersey City and two years in Brown Summit. She was a nursing assistant for 35 years at the Jewish Home and Rehabilitation Center, Jersey City. She retired in 1999. She was the former wife of Walter Baisden; mother of Dolly Baisden Davis and her husband Wayman, Aida Baisden, Tammy Baisden, Melissa Dale and her husband Tony, Diane Stith and her husband Ralph, Joseph Baisden, Walter Baisden and the late Walter, Robert and Addie Baisden; grandmother of 22 including the late Terrence, Antoine and Tamara Baisden and great-grandmother of 20 including the late Clay Baisden; close personal friend of Mrs. Maebel King; sister of the late Rena Garvin, Maggie, Edward and Emanuel Carter and Henry Lowery; and also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Services arranged by the Greenville Memorial Home, Jersey City.
