Audience members attending the fourth annual NoHu International Short Film Festival voted to select the festival winners on Sept. 29 at the William V. Musto Cultural Center, 420 15th St. in Union City. The festival was created four years ago by James Fakuda, a Weehawken resident, and the city of Union City.
The standing-room-only event was attended by filmmakers from all over Hudson County, as well as from New York City and Los Angeles. Finalists of various genres, from art films to documentaries to horror, were represented. The red carpet event was attended by filmmakers from each film chosen as an official finalist. Actors and other artists were also in attendance to support and enjoy the array of films.
The final voting was made by the attending audience members following the screening with the awards presentation immediately following the vote.
The high quality of films was especially evident with such finalists as the HBO-produced “Crush” and “Roma Sub Rosa, the secret under the rose,” with costumes from Warner Bros.
The 2011 NoHu International Short Film Festival was the biggest and most successful in its four year history, having received the biggest number of entries, the best quality of films, and the biggest turn out at the event.
