Argument grows tense

A 51-year-old North Bergen man was arrested after tensions rose during an argument with his wife, police say.
According to Lt. Bernadette Gonyou, the victim called 911 after allegedly being shoved by her husband.
North Bergen police arrested the 84th Street resident on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 11:30 p.m. He was charged with simple assault and released on his own recognizance. He was given a summons to appear in court.

DMV catches alleged fraud

A Union City resident was arrested at the Department of Motor Vehicles at 90th Street and Bergenline Avenue after allegedly producing false documents, police say.
On Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 2 p.m., police arrested and charged Raymond Gonzalez, 37, of 32nd Street, with exhibiting fraudulent documents after he allegedly produced a false title for his motorcycle, according to Lt. Bernadette Gonyou.
Gonzalez was released on his own recognizance for $2,500 and given a summons to appear in court.

Alleged shoplifter is busted

A Jersey City man was arrested after allegedly attempting to steal from a North Bergen food store on Aug 23 at 9 a.m., according to police.
According to Lt. Bernadette Gonyou, Jan Rivera, 31, of Poplar Street, was arrested and charged with shoplifting at Food Basics, 1425 Kennedy Blvd., in North Bergen. Police said Rivera also had a warrant from Port Authority police for failure to appear in court.
