‘Hoboken Dogs’ book release party will benefit Liberty Humane Society

Happy hour at The Madison Bar and Grill in Hoboken on Thursday, Sept. 8 will celebrate the release of “Hoboken Dogs,” a tabletop collection of digital photographs and facts featuring a cross-section of the K9s who reside in the mile-square city.
The Madison Bar and Grill will donate 10 percent of all drink proceeds from the evening to the Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City, with whom the city of Hoboken has a contract to pick up and take in strays.
As well as colorful portraits of Hoboken dogs, the book showcases some of the most recognizable places and historical sites in the city, such as the famous riverfront from “On the Waterfront,” the plaque recognizing Hoboken as the birthplace of baseball, the locations of the former Lipton Tea and Maxwell Coffee buildings, and Carlo’s Bakery, home of the “Cake Boss.”
As the slogan “A Dog’s View of the Neighborhood” implies, the book aims to capture the spirit of Hoboken, which draws annually to its brownstones and corner cafes many young professionals seeking a dog-friendlier neighborhood.
Copies of the book will be sold at the event and patrons will also have the opportunity to have the book customized with their dog on the cover.
The book may also be previewed and purchased online at www.blurb.com.
All are welcome at this endless happy hour, which will run from 5:30 p.m. until closing. For more information regarding the book or the happy hour, contact Kristen Pierce at piercek313@yahoo.com.
