Reader photos from Jersey City: Enduring flooding, and saving the animals

JERSEY CITY — While the county still suffered from high winds late Sunday afternoon, a Jersey City reader sent in more photos of the flooding and shots taken during the storm.

1) Corner of Grand and Grove in Jersey City, Sunday afternoon;
2) William Mosley of Morristown helps evacuate cats from the Liberty Humane Society Shelter in Jersey City. The shelter had approximately 290 cats and 65 dogs before the storm.
3) The NJ Turnpike Extension from Christopher Columbus Blvd.
4) Vitale, one of the cats available for adoption at Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City, surveyed the situation as the staff and volunteers prepared for evacuation prior to Hurricane Irene.
