Parking restrictions in Jersey City due to storm

JERSEY CITY – In a release issued Wednesday evening, Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy and the Jersey City Office of Emergency Management urged motorists not to park on city emergency routes in light of the winter snowstorm that is expected to last until 6 a.m. Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch from Wednesday through early Thursday for the Jersey City metropolitan area.
Snow accumulations ranging between 6 to 12 inches were expected, with winds 15 to 25 miles per hour with higher gusts and some blowing and drifting.
Strong winds are expected to result in near zero visibility for motorists. Motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution as temperatures will be in the 20 degree range resulting in slippery roadway surfaces. Residents are urged to refrain from double parking, parking close to street corners, and from shoveling snow into the streets.
