STATEWIDE — Local residents have strong feelings about the MTV reality show “Jersey Shore.” Some say it promotes negative stereotypes of New Jerseyans or Italians. Others just think it’s a waste of time. But love it or hate it, people are watching it. (As evidence, look at how many hits this ridiculous story gets in the next 12 hours.)
Tuesday, MTV made an announcement. The cast of duelling housemates will not be in Seaside Heights for Season 4. Not even some other party town, like Hoboken. They’re heading to…Italy.
An MTV spokesman was quoted as saying, “While the stateside ‘Jersey Shore’ locales have become iconic for our audience … Europe is a fresh spin on a show that continues to reach new heights for us. The cast is headed to the birthplace of the culture they love and live by. We can’t wait to see what erupts as a result.”
Famous cast members Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi have already appeared in Hoboken and Bayonne. Now they can bring their special flare to Europe, too.
Meanwhile, season 3 continues this Thursday. And theories are flying that new Hoboken residents Albie and Chris Manzo, star of another popular reality show — Bravo’s “Real Housewives of New Jersey” – may get a reality show filmed about their bachelor exploits in the mile-square city.
