Freeholders support Jersey City’s bid to stop gas line

JERSEY CITY, BAYONNE, HOBOKEN — The Hudson County Freeholders are expected to vote at their Thursday, Jan. 27 meeting to support Jersey City’s opposition to a proposed natural gas pipeline. The city councils for Jersey City and Bayonne, through which the pipeline is supposed to be routed, have already passed resolutions opposing the line. Officials in Hoboken have also expressed concerns.
The resolution would be sent to the US Federal Energey Regulatory Commission to oppose the the construction of the pipeline in Hudson County by Texas Eastern Transmission LP and Algonquin Gas Transmission LLC — collectively known as Spectra.
