HOBOKEN — The Hoboken City Council was expected to convene for a special meeting Monday at 8 p.m. to re-address temporary budget appropriations.
On Jan. 5, the administration of Mayor Dawn Zimmer proposed a temporary budget appropriation which would cover the city’s finances until the end of March. However, Councilman Michael Russo proposed a different set of appropriations which would only take Hoboken through the first six weeks of 2011. Russo said this was done to put the administration’s “feet to the fire” to present a 2011 calendar budget to the council. The issue was tabled until Jan. 19, but the administration found out last week that they would not be able to complete payroll payments, and scheduled a special meeting for Jan. 10.
