Dear Editor:
The Hoboken All Star Soccer club would like to congratulate its 11 teams for another terrific season in competition against the teams of northern NJ and Southern NY. Congratulations to the G12 for their 1st place finish and the Girls U14 and the Boys U11 for their 2nd place finishes.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our coaches, players and parents. All of our coaches are volunteers and their passion for the game of soccer and our children is much appreciated. Our players are fantastic, enthusiastic and energetic and can turn any sized space into a playing pitch. A special thank you to our parents, whose flexibility and support has been invaluable. We would also like to thank the City of Hoboken for their creativity in field solutions and reaching out to Weehawken and the Hoboken Board of Education on our behalf to secure playing fields. While the temporary loss of Sinatra as a playing field has presented challenges, due to everyone’s efforts, patience and ability to improvise, the All Star travel program has been able to thrive as the results of the season attest. We have had unprecedented interest in the program and we look forward to additional growth as more playing space becomes available.
We would like to thank Mayor Dawn Zimmer, Director of Human Services Leo Pellegrini and the staffs of the Departments of Recreation and Environmental Services for their help and support. We look forward to another successful season this spring.
