NOTO, DANIEL M. SR

A mass of Christian burial was held Dec. 13 at St. Joseph’s RC Church for Daniel M. Noto Sr., 87, of Oradell, formerly of North Bergen, where he raised his family, and Del Ray Beach, Fla., where he retired. He died Dec. 8. He was the husband of the late Margaret; father of Kathleen Irving and her husband Robert, Daria Noto and her husband James Re, and Daniel Noto, Jr. He was predeceased by his son David Noto and is survived by his daughter-in-law Debra Yorke; grandfather of Robert Daniel Irving and Jenna Marie Noto; brother of Rachel Fiszman, and brother-in-law of Mary Pryor and Patrick and Patsy McNamee, and companion of Marie Marconi. He is also survived by many other family members and friends. Daniel was a supervisor with Pennsylvania Railroad and later with Conrail for over 40 years. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in the European theater for 21 months as an ambulance driver and boat operator. It was there that he administered first aid and transported the wounded to and from hospitals. Later in life he was an active member of the Railroad Union. He was also active in North Bergen politics, serving as a committeeman. In Florida, he was the president of the Del Ray Villas Plat No. 1 Homeowners Association, and a member of the Men and Women’s Club, the Democratic Club, Men’s Club, and the American Italian Club. When not participating in his local community events, Daniel traveled extensively throughout the U.S., visiting various national parks, while exploring his love of history. Services arranged by the Volk Leber Funeral Home, Oradell.
