Settlement report called ‘inaccurate and misleading’

Dear Editor:
The Sept. 26 North Bergen Reporter story “Officials Discuss $90K Harassment Settlement” was inaccurate and misleading; it must be corrected.
We explained to the Reporter that false allegations that Mayor Nicholas Sacco and Commissioner Theresa Ferraro made inappropriate comments to a former employee were rejected by the court and thrown out by the judge. Yet your newspaper decided to repeat gratuitous sexual innuendo and engage in blatant sensationalism without any basis in fact. That was an outrageous and irresponsible decision.
The simple truth is that this settlement will save taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars because the plaintiff has relinquished all claims to a job that was paying her over $70,000 a year in salary and benefits.
