Wrong-lung doc working at Hoboken hospital

HOBOKEN — According to NJ.com:

The doctor who caused the death of a patient at the Meadowlands Hospital in Secaucus by removing the wrong lung some 10 years ago — and then [allegedly] tried to cover it up — is practicing surgery again; this time at Hoboken University Medical Center.
Following a six-month “active” suspension of his medical license and a fine of more than $80,000, he was granted privileges to practice surgery at HUMC on July 22.
Meadowlands Hospital and the Jersey City Medical Center, both part of the LibertyHealth network, denied Perera privileges to conduct surgeries at their institutions, hospital spokesmen told NJ.com.

Check back tomorrow for a response.
