Anyone interested in becoming a certified high school baseball and/or softball umpire, should register with the Hudson County Umpires Association by calling Mike Lynch at (201) 437-3381 or president Gene Klumpp Sr. at (201) 563-0704.
Classes are held each Tuesday, starting Jan. 19 through April. The classes will be held in Jersey City from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
The association serves as a resource for local high schools, recreation and organized league games.
