Coffey resigns BLRA

Jay Coffey, who was fired as Bayonne Law Department director in May, gave his resignation to the Bayonne Local Redevelopment Authority during a closed session on Aug. 14.
Coffey would not comment on the reasons behind his resignation, but at least one commissioner said there has been a dispute behind the scenes over the division of duties between recently hired Special Counsel Paul Werther and Coffey as general counsel of the BLRA.
Normally, as general counsel Coffey would just review work performed by the special counsel. But Coffey was apparently taking on more of the day to day duties the commissioner believed was supposed to be done by the special counsel. Al Sullivan
