Of Carteret (formerly of Bayonne); on Saturday, July 11, 2009; son of the late Delia (Flannagan) and Thomas Whalen; beloved husband of the late Mary Neary Whalen; devoted father of Mary Ryan, Colleen Mizerek, Anne Cerchio, Karen DeAngelo and the late Terence and James Whalen; brother of the late Thomas Whalen; loving grandfather of 12; great-grandfather of five; great-great-grandfather of one granddaughter; also survived by his cherished boxer, Buster.
