A funeral mass was offered July 7 at St. Aloysius Church, Jersey City, for Efrain Ortiz, Sr., 50. He died July 1 at University Medical Center in Newark. Born in Hammonton, the son of Angela Cruz Ortiz and the late Felipe Ortiz, he lived in Hoboken for many years before moving to Jersey City 28 years ago. He was employed as a senior repairer at New Jersey City University in Jersey City for 26 years. He was the husband of the late Brunilda (Munoz) Ortiz. He is survived by his children, Efrain Jr., Erik and Ashley Ortiz; his grandchildren, Brittany and Elijah. He was the brother of Merquiades Ortiz, Adrian Ortiz, Maria Zorrilla, Brunilda Reyes, Angela Ortiz, Evelyn Colon, Miriam Ortiz and Gisela Ortiz, and is also survived by seven nephews and nine nieces. Services arranged by the Greenville Memorial Home, Jersey City.
