METCALFE, WILLIAM E

A funeral mass was celebrated July 8 at Our Lady of Grace R.C. Church, Hoboken, William E. Metcalfe, 67. “Billy” passed away July 3. A lifelong resident of Hoboken, William worked as a police mechanic for the city of Hoboken for 30 years, later becoming the foreman. William was in the U.S. Marine Corps. four years, as were his brothers, Thomas, James, and Michael. William was a member of the American Legion Post 107 in Hoboken for 40 years, and commander for four terms. William was also the Cheff DeGare for the Forty and Eight. He was the son of the late James and Catherine Metcalfe. He was the husband of Helen Metcalfe (McMaster); the father of Beth and Michele; the grandfather (Pop-Pops) of Perry; the brother of Thomas Metcalfe, James Metcalfe, Geraldine Gallagher (Metcalfe), Michael Metcalfe, and the late Kathleen Metcalfe. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
