Police officer in crash

At 4:30 p.m. a West New York police officer struck a light pole and two small posts after a driver in a Mitsubishi Montero collided with the rear of the police officer’s vehicle. Police director Oscar Fernandez said the officer suffered no serious injuries, though he was taken to Palisades Medical Center for a minor head injury. The other driver was not hurt and prefered to not request medical treatment. The officer was responding to an emergency call when the collision occurred. Fernandez said no pedestrians were hurt either.
