Kids First will pursue progress in Hoboken schools

Dear Editor:
The Hoboken Board of Education election is on Tuesday April 21st. Together with election for Mayor and three Council Members-at-large candidates on May 12th, this year offers a one-time opportunity to shape Hoboken’s future.
That is why I am endorsing the Kids First slate – Theresa Minutillo, Maureen Sullivan and Ruth McAllister – in the upcoming Hoboken Board of Education election.
Ruthy is a Business Systems Consultant with BNY Mellon Bank in Jersey City. Maureen comes with a twenty-year career in journalism. Theresa owns her own Image Development and Corporate Branding company. All have been very active volunteers in making our schools better. These three Hoboken “moms” will bring professional expertise and experience to the Board of Education.
I know they will focus their efforts as Board members on creating a great educational environment for Hoboken children. They will demand evidence-based performance measures to monitor student, teacher, school and administration progress. And they will make sure we invest more resources in the classroom by cutting excess administrative costs to make the Hoboken school system one of the best in the State.
Our mutual goal for Hoboken schools is that our children prosper in school and young families stay in Hoboken when their children reach school age.
Kids first is Hoboken’s best shot in years to achieve these goals.
I’ll be supporting these three fine women and voting 1-4-5. I invite you to join me.

Dawn Zimmer
4th Ward Councilwoman
