A funeral service was held March 27 for Stanley M. Bajkowski, 88. He died March 23 at home. Born in Jersey City, he lived there before moving to Westfield in 2005. He was an Army veteran of WWII and served in the Mediterranean theater in the campaign in Italy, taking part in the invasion and battle for the island of Sicily and the invasion of Salerno. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star. He was employed by APA trucking for 40 years, and retired in 1985. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Jersey City. He was predeceased by his wife Michaelina (DeSanto). He is survived by his son, Steven Bajkowski and daughter, June Chernetz and her husband, Joel; three granddaughters, Janna, Allegra, and Jessica and one great-granddaughter, Morganne.
